The Odyssey is the telling of Odysseus and his return home to Ithaca from the City of Troy. On his journey he came face to face with death a countless number of times. One of his more famous accounts was the passing between Scylla; a giant serpent like sea monster. And Charybdis; a giant whirlpool. Upon spotting the whirl pool on the right side of his ship, Odysseus decided to bare left to avoid the ships destruction along with his entire crew. But as soon as they began to pass, Scylla arose from the sea forcing Odysseus to choose between letting the entire ship be taken under by Charybdis or watching the horror of over half of his men being torn apart. Track number three involves our sentient ability to make, “the right decision”. Throughout human history there have been many cases of people having to choose between, “the lesser of two evils”. Odysseus choosing to sacrifice half of his crew to avoid total destruction by the whirlpool, is a prime example of this scenario. Scylla would be the lesser evil compared to Charybdis. The song is meant to provoke thought and raise awareness towards the challenges of making tough decisions that cannot be avoided. This directly references the closing of track one, Creatures /St Francis.
